PADI Deep Diver extends recreational diving's depth limit from 30 m (Advanced Open Water) to 40 m. Four dives across two days, all between 18 and 40 m, working through deep dive planning, narcosis recognition, gas management, and emergency decompression procedures. We run it on the deeper Hurghada sites · Carless Reef wall (38 m), Abu Nuhas wrecks (26 m), Erg Somaya wall (35 m). Mandatory prerequisite for many liveaboard itineraries (Brothers, Daedalus, Salem Express penetration) and the natural step before tech-diving.

What you'll do
Two days, four dives. PADI Deep Diver eLearning at home (4 hours). At the dive base, briefing on each of the four required exercises: deep dive planning, narcosis assessment, gas management at depth, and simulated emergency decompression. Each exercise paired with a guided dive at progressively deeper sites. Card issued same day as final dive.
Prerequisites
- PADI Adventure Diver (3 adventure dives including Deep), or PADI Advanced Open Water · or any agency equivalent
- Minimum age 15
- Logged 15+ dives recommended (we won't run a fresh-AOW diver below 30 m)
- Medical fitness · PADI self-declaration plus doctor's note for any flagged conditions
- Nitrox 32 strongly recommended (separate specialty · €165 · or take Nitrox + Deep combined for €440)
01 · Day 1
Dives 1-2 · Foundations + first deep
Dive 1 at 18-22 m · deep dive planning practice and a colour/perception exercise (we hand you a bright object at the surface that turns grey-blue at 22 m). Dive 2 at 24-30 m · narcosis self-assessment, you'll work through a logic puzzle on a slate at depth and again at the safety stop to feel the difference. Most students find their personal narcosis threshold here.
02 · Day 2
Dives 3-4 · Deeper + simulated deco
Dive 3 at 30-35 m on Carless Reef wall · gas management drill (we time your air consumption and compare to a planned dive) and a 'lost diver' simulation. Dive 4 at 35-40 m · simulated emergency decompression (we don't actually run deco · we simulate the procedure with a deco bar at 5 m for 5 minutes). Card issued at the end of dive 4.
