Common comparison questions
Is PADI better than SSI or SDI?
All three are recognised globally and produce competent divers. PADI is the most widely used (so easier to find your next instructor in any country). SSI is excellent value with included digital materials. SDI/TDI is the best route into technical diving via its sister TDI.
Will my SSI / SDI card be accepted on a PADI dive boat?
Yes. Cross-recognition is universal across the major agencies. The only place this matters in practice is professional pathways · pro-level cards must continue with the same agency.
Which one is cheapest in Hurghada?
SSI and SDI Open Water are €300 with us, PADI is €330. The €30 difference covers PADI's higher e-learning royalty and the plastic certification card (SSI/SDI default to digital cards, plastic on request).
Which agency do you teach by default?
PADI. We teach SSI, SDI and BSAC on request · same instructors, same boat, same dive sites. BSAC is most popular with UK club divers continuing their training during a holiday week.
If I start with one, can I switch later?
Yes. There's a one-time crossover process for the next certification level. We've done it for many divers · it's painless and inexpensive.
What about BSAC · do you run those too?
Yes. We run BSAC Ocean Diver and Sports Diver in Hurghada on request · ideal if you're a UK club diver continuing your pathway, or if your home club uses BSAC standards. Pricing matches PADI equivalents. Theory follows the BSAC syllabus, the in-water practice is the same Red Sea reefs we use for every course.
